This page explains how BoxieAI uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies. We've kept this simple because our approach is simple: BoxieAI does not use cookies.
1. What we actually use instead
Rather than cookies, BoxieAI stores a small amount of information directly in your browser's local storage (a standard browser feature, distinct from cookies, that never gets sent to us or any third party automatically):
| Key | Purpose | Cleared when |
|---|---|---|
access_token | Keeps you signed in between visits | You log out, or it expires |
user | Caches your name and profile picture so the dashboard loads instantly | You log out |
boxieai_tweaks | Remembers display preferences (theme, density, accent color) | You clear your browser data |
None of this is used for advertising, cross-site tracking, or sold to anyone. It exists purely to make the app function and remember your preferences on your own device.
2. Third-party cookies
When you connect a Gmail account, Google's own sign-in page may set cookies as part of its OAuth flow — that happens on Google's domain, under Google's own cookie and privacy practices, not ours. Similarly, if you complete a payment, Paystack's checkout page may set its own cookies during that process. We don't control or receive those cookies.
3. Analytics
BoxieAI does not currently use any third-party analytics or advertising trackers on the site or in the app. If this changes, we'll update this page and, where required by law, ask for your consent first.
4. Managing local storage
You can clear BoxieAI's local storage at any time through your browser's settings (usually under Privacy / Site Data). Doing so will simply log you out and reset your display preferences — it won't affect your account or connected Gmail data, which live on our servers.
5. Changes to this policy
If BoxieAI's use of cookies or browser storage changes, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
